A dual board-certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) and Family Nurse Practitioner (FNP) with over 12 years of experience, I originally hail from Portmore, Jamaica and now reside in Tampa, Florida. My experience includes Emergency Room, Trauma, and Intensive Care as a Registered Nurse, as well as addiction medicine, primary care, Urgent Care, community health, infectious disease, Psychiatry/behavioral health, and pediatrics.
Working in emergency departments nationwide, with the homeless community in South Florida, and as a pediatric urgent care nurse practitioner treating unaccompanied minors in Texas, I became acutely aware of the significant number of individuals struggling with unaddressed trauma and mental health conditions. Stigma and limited access to treatment kept these issues hidden and untreated. This motivated me to pursue a post-master’s degree in Psychiatry and Mental Health.
I understand that mental health challenges can have a profound impact on physical health, well-being, and relationships. These impairments can significantly affect all aspects of life. This is why I firmly believe that comprehensive access to psychiatry and mental health care is crucial for achieving optimal health, stability, and regaining control of your life.
