What is ADHD?

ADHD is a neurodevelopmental disorder characterized by difficulty maintaining attention, hyperactivity, and impulsiveness. It often begins in childhood, though many people continue to experience symptoms into adulthood. Those with ADHD may struggle with organizing tasks, completing assignments, or following conversations, which can impact their performance at school or work.

The condition presents in different ways, with some individuals being more inattentive, while others are more hyperactive or impulsive. It can be frustrating both for those living with the disorder and for the people around them, as these challenges can interfere with daily routines and relationships.

Symptoms of ADHD

Everyone’s experience with ADHD differs, but there are many shared symptoms that can be highly disruptive to your daily life. These can vary in severity and may change as you age and take on more responsibility. Some common symptoms include:

  • Difficulties with focus
  • Hyperactivity and restlessness
  • Impulsive behavior
  • Emotional dysregulation
  • Forgetfulness
  • Trouble with time management

Though untreated ADHD may be challenging to live with, there are plenty of treatment options to manage symptoms and live up to your fullest potential. Schedule an appointment with our in-person or online psychiatrists in Florida for ADHD support!
